Inspection Service

Some men and women work for inspection services, and deal with commercial property or residential home inspection. As you may know, buildings have to be tested and scanned in various ways for safety hazards and quality control purposes. As an inspector, you may have to examine roofs, perform infrared scans on home interiors, run mold tests, and check ceilings and walls for asbestos contamination. Just as automobiles are tested for safety and functionality reasons, buildings and structures must be checked as well.

In order to professionally audit or inspect buildings, you must first become certified. This means you need to complete a required course of classes and training beforehand. This way, as an inspector, you will be able to properly test water lines for lead, check air for mold spores, and test homes for high radon levels. It is your job to make certain a property or building structure is safe for occupants. This sometimes means checking the building's foundation for cracks and damage, or scanning the structure's interior for mold. The roof structure also has to be checked for weak points and leaks. As a professional inspector, you learn how to test for asbestos in plaster or dry wall, inspect windows, and improve the quality control of materials used for building.

This can be a very demanding line of work to get involved with. Regardless, in this field, you are bound to work with a number of building contractors, residential homeowners, and even construction workers at times. It can be an exciting career for the right individuals.

Make appointments with each home inspection service before choosing one. When meeting with each inspector, take note if the professional and staff are on time, courteous and helpful. If you visit the inspector at his or her place of business, check the condition of the office. Are staff members eager to help out? Ask if the inspector is available for your request and has the time to take on your inspection. Ask if the home inspection service has a website you can check out to view company history and services offered. Find out if the home inspection service is part of a local or national health franchise or association. Inquire about costs and see when the inspector can visit your home or business for an inspection. Target inspectors that offer the exact service you need, such as roof inspection, property inspection, auto inspection, postal inspection, or real estate inspection, whether for residential, commercial or industrial purposes. Before choosing a health or home inspection service, research the professional's background carefully, noting how long he or she has been in business serving residential, commercial or industrial customers. Make a detailed list of the services each home inspector offers, such as water analysis, lead screening, pest control, mold removal, safety precautions, radon testing, asbestos testing, and carbon monoxide testing. Get rate quotes in writing, and make sure the home inspector is properly certified and licensed. In your search for a reputable home inspection service, ask others in the construction or house building business who they trust and deal with on a routine basis. Make an appointment with the inspection service that best meets your needs. Remember to take note of the inspector's availability, hours, background, safety background, certification, government regulation codes, and quality of service before choosing an inspection service.
