In order to become a certified mechanic, this individual has to go through trade school, a certification program, and often an apprenticeship. At the end of all this, he or she even has to complete a test demonstrating his/her knowledge of both foreign and domestic vehicles before receiving the official certification. After all of the time spent in the automotive industry, your mechanic probably has connections that you do not. For instance, a mechanic may be able to get authentic car parts from the dealership much more cheaply than if you order them yourself. And if not, you can always order that rebuilt motor online!
