Questions to Ask at Movie Theatres

Going to the movie theater is one of the most popular recreation activities for families and couples because the cinema offers something for everyone including comedy, horror, action and drama. Besides just the show, you will also be able to order traditional snacks such as popcorn and candy to complete the experience. Here are some questions to ask your local movie theater to set yourself up for a great day or night at the movies.

  • Where can I find a list of your movies and times for showings?
Most movie theaters print their movie times in the local newspaper or on their website or you can get this information by calling the box offices. You will also be able to find what each movie you are considering watching is rated to ensure it is appropriate for you and the people in your group.

  • Do you offer any cheaper movie tickets or specials?
Matinees, or daytime showings, are typically offered at a discounted rate. Taking the whole family to the theater can get expensive so it’s a good idea to watch for special family nights and cheaper showings.

  • If I do not enjoy the movie can I get a refund on my tickets?
Each theater has a different policy for refunding movie tickets in different situations. Some theaters can tell you their policy over the phone or you can find it on their website.

  • Are you having any special events in the future?
Movie theater and film events can be fun for all different age groups. Privately owned theaters often show classic movie or short films which offer a nice change of pace from the Hollywood blockbusters that are onscreen at mall cinemas.
  • National Assoc of Theatre Owners
Help keep movie magic alive by joining our professional association of movie theater owners. We are dedicated to the hard work you do to create a fun environment for moviegoers.

Going to the movies to see a film can be a fun activity, but it can also be expensive. If you love to see films there are ways that you can still enjoy movies in the theater and save money. Look for coupons on the internet to pay cheaper prices for your candy and snacks. Movie beverages are normally very large. Get more than one straw and share your soda with a friend. You can also get a jumbo tub of popcorn and split it with a friend or two. Some local theaters may run specials where you can view older movies in the theater for a dollar a ticket. This can make for a fun night out with your kids who missed seeing classic films in the cinema the first time around. Stadium movie theaters in malls sometimes have discounts on week nights where you can view new movies at discounted ticket prices. Sometimes movie screening companies will pick a local cinema and show an advanced screening of a movie. You will be able to see the movie for free and also rate it at the end. Make sure you are not late for the show when attending one of these events. Make sure to know what the movies that your kids are going to see are rated. Check internet listings to find out what theater their favorite film is playing at. Go to a matinee to save money. You could always grab a seat in a different row if your kids want to bring friends and are embarrassed to sit next to you. Even if you are not too keen on the film, you may find some new movies you want to see in the future by watching the trailers.
