Tip #1: Buy Shoes Designed for Specific Activities
It’s not wise to buy one type of athletic shoe for all sports. While a walking shoe is great for all around use, you’ll want to buy shoes designed for the specific activity or sport you love to do. Shoes are designed to match the activity described, providing extra support and flexibility where needed. Tennis shoes, for instance, offer more side to side support, whereas you’ll get more front and back support with running shoes.

Tip #2: Shop for Shoes in the Afternoon or Evening
Because your feet naturally swell a bit throughout the day due to all the pressure you put on them, it’s best to shop for hiking shoes, rain boots and sneakers at the end of the day when your feet are at their largest. If you buy in the morning, you may find that same pair fitting pretty snug at night.

Tip #3: Leave Some Space
