Some flower shops now exist only online, with arrangers working out of their homes or offices. High street shops also deliver, sometimes taking orders by phone or fax. Individuals may send flowers for an anniversary or a birthday, or just as a token of esteem.

    Florists buy and sell flower arranging supplies which might include baskets, ribbons and vases. Fake flowers, made of silk or paper, are also sold.
