Many individuals work as Christian counselors and therapist. This often means working out of a church office or even a clinic at times. This can be a very rewarding line of work, and it often involves helping couples with marriage problems or marital issues of some sort. Often religious therapists are also church ministers, priests, or pastors as well. If you work as a Christian counselor, you are likely to assist people with common issues like family problems, teen depression, drug abuse, and even anger management. Since there are many people that require counseling or therapy all over the country, there are many opportunities in this field.
You should not expect to make a high income or salary as a Christian counselor. Most men and women, who work in this field, do so because they enjoy helping others. Some people with marriage problems, family issues, drug addiction, or anxiety may not be able to pay you much for assistance. Just so you know, some Christian counselors actually have college degrees in psychology, which can certainly be helpful for this field. After all, you will need to address relationship abuse issues, marital problems, spiritual guidance, and even mental health problems at times. While you may work with couples at times, you may also work with children on occasion. It is your job to provide grief counseling, anger management assistance, premarital advice, and help people heal. This often involves listening to confessions describing acts, which Christians believe are sins.
If you get involved as a Christian counselor, you may often work with other pastors, ministers, or religious professionals. You will also deal with families, couples, and children regularly.
