Tips on Building Industrial Fences
Follow these tips to build an industrial fence to protect your goods and property:

Tip #1: Check with your insurance company if you need a certain type of fence.
Many insurance policies will only insure businesses that are adequately protected. For many large industrial businesses, this means building a protective fence so that people cannot enter the property without authorization. Insurance policies contain strict policies on the height of the fence and what it should be constructed from. In many cases a simple chain link fence is not adequate. Make sure you check with your insurance policy or representative before building the fence.

Tip #2: Consult with a professional for large walls or fences.
A professional contractor needs to always be used for large projects. For example, building a large retaining wall out of concrete should only be performed by a licensed contractor. If a retaining wall is not built correctly, and made to address both drainage and pressure issues, the wall will end up cracking and falling. The same is true of very large fences made out of heavy materials such as metal or concrete. Without the proper support, the fence will fall down.

Tip #3: For heavy traffic, use an electronic access gate.
While it is cheaper to buy a lock and key for the gate, if people are going to be coming and going regularly, it's worth your money to install an electronic access gate. These come in several different models, allowing authorized users to enter a code or slide a key card inside to gain entrance. For security reasons, make sure you keep track of the key cards or regularly change the code to the gate every 3 to 6 months.

Commercial and industrial fence contractors are able to install all types of fences, such as baseball field backstops, solid traditional fences, chain link with gates, and cedar shadowboxes. They often install and repair heavy duty chain link fencing along industrial properties, commercial buildings, storage areas, and playgrounds.

These professionals must possess a strong knowledge within the construction field, and fencing in particular. They often have backgrounds as masons or contractors, and some even have design backgrounds. A company, erector, or contractor in this fencing business should have lots of experience working with all types of fences, from picket and vinyl to PVC and aluminum.

For example, a junkyard with a dog on site may require a heavy-duty chain link or electric fence around the property. A commercial swimming pool with garden may require a wrought iron fence with gate. An equestrian riding school may need a split rail fence. Each one offers a different advantage.

Many commercial and industrial fence contractors are available for consultations online, offering free estimates, photos of previous jobs, and installation and repair service outlines. Customers interested in installing panel, vinyl, wood, concrete, or chain link fences for their business can either call, stop in, or head to the website for more information. Many companies have receptionists on duty that can answer any and all questions.

Commercial and industrial fence contractors generally require lots of on-the-job training to become proficient at installing support posts, making sure all panels and beams are straight and secured. Length of installation time depends on the job, but contractors should outline a timeline in their contracts with clients. Whether metal, panel, wire, steel, or wood, fences and posts are necessary for privacy in industrial and commercial businesses, and only qualified professionals can provide this type of large-scale installation.
