Shuttle services are great; they help you to get to the airport, transport you around town, or provide you with a fun, stylish ride in a limo or a bus! Whether you are looking to jump on an express cab, or take a long ride in the taxi, one career that you know is involved with this industry is the driver helping you get around the city!
It is important that any driver operating a commercial vehicle, like a taxi cab or shuttle, is certified and licensed to operate the vehicle that you are riding in! Depending on what city/state the driver is in, there are different regulations that he or she must comply with. Sometimes, for a small company, you will find that the driver actually owns the car, and is not associated with larger chains. In these cases, there may be limited pick up and drop off times available, especially in small towns, where this may be the only cab. In these cases, drivers will build reputations for how they treat their passengers. Most vehicle operators are required to keep a safe, clean driving record to maintain their certification as well.
Other similar careers are those of the limo driver, or party bus operator. These careers also require special licensing and certification; many limo or party bus drivers actually undergo a training course to learn how to not only negotiate such a large vehicle on the freeway, but along local roads as well. Though limos may not be as cheap as cab rates for transportation, they usually do not charge by meter or mileage either. Whether the driver is picking you up after you're at the airport after flight arrival, or dropping you off, they are always timely!
