Tips for Selecting a Lawn Mower
The following are some tips for selecting a lawn mower:

Tip #1: Size is everything
When looking at lawn mowers, there are a few different sizes to think about. First of all, consider the size of your yard. If you have a giant yard, you won’t want to use a push mower. Similarly, a large riding mower is impractical for tiny lawns. Next, think about actual mower size. You need to make sure you have a safe, dry place to store your mower year round. The size of the price tag is important, too. A lawn mower is, in a way, an investment. A really expensive mower is not a necessity, though.

Tip #1: Keep your lawn mower powered and maintained
Basic manual push mowers require no power source other than your own strength. For more strength, there are electric and gas powered push mowers. You will still have to push the mower around, but the revolving blades will be powered by an engine. This type of mower is very popular for small to medium yards. Riding lawn mowers are also available in gas or electric. Make sure you know how to maintain your lawn mower. Keeping it powered is essential, of course, but knowing how to adjust, sharpen, and replace the revolving blades is also very important.

Tip #3: Inspect the additional features
Safety features are always an important aspect of a lawn mower. There should be an emergency shut off button, such as a safety switch. Blades should never be exposed. A lawn mower should be sturdy and should be close to the ground. Varying blade speeds are, of course, a great feature. Riding lawn mowers will have more perks than other mowers, such as seat cushions and cup holders. Many mower models will collect the grass trimmings into a bag for you. This allows for easy disposal or collection for use as mulch or compost.

Are you in the market for a new lawn mower? Go to the store with a prepared list of questions to ask about the available grass trimming devices. You can find all types of mowers from gas powered to bagged to automatic.

  • What safety features does this mower have?
If you have small children, you have reason to be concerned about blades and other sharp parts.

  • I have a small yard. What kind of mower can you recommend?
If the grassy area of your home is not too big, you may be able to purchase a cheap manual mower instead of a more expensive mower which runs on electric current, battery or a gas motor.

  • What types of grass cutting devices are good for a person with a bad back?
You may want to purchase a seated ride-on mower if you are scared of throwing out your back or have trouble walking. Seated mowers can also be useful if you own a large piece of land.

  • How can I avoid getting a flat tire while using my tractor?
A tractor supply specialist can sell you a tire that is durable enough for the type of farm work that you need to do.

  • What type of mower is good if I don't have a lot of storage space?
Mulch mowers take up less space than bag mowers.

  • Do you sell used lawn cutting devices?
Buying a used lawn cutter can save you a lot of money, but you want to make sure to test out the engine, the cord and other vital parts. If you are buying a ride on device check out the steering wheel and any push buttons.

  • Does this product come with a warranty?
Don't get stuck with expensive repair bills later on.

  • How can I get weeds out of my garden?
Trimming devices and extensions may be available.
