Joining a new gym or fitness center is a little bit intimidating, especially if you haven't worked out in a while. Follow these helpful tips to make finding a new fitness center as easy as possible:

Tip #1: Try to find a local fitness center.
The best gyms are the ones you visit often. The last thing you want after a hard day at work is spending half an hour driving to and from a gym. Locate a local fitness center using MagicYellow's listings to find a couple near your home.

Tip #2: Tour the facility.
Take advantage of a free guided tour most fitness centers offer for perspective new members. This gives you a chance to check out all the equipment, classes, and facilities. If its possible, try meeting with some physical trainers and instructors of classes you are interested in. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions of your tour guide.

Tip #3: Ask about any extras.
Most fitness centers work with their members. For example, if you have small children, some fitness centers offer day care options while you are working out for a small fee.

Tip #4: Read the small print before signing a contract.
Most fitness centers and gyms offer great introductory rates for new members. However, sometimes the contract you sign makes you agree to pay for membership for a year or more. The best gyms won't pressure you for your business. If you are unsure that you want to commit to a new gym for a long period of time, talk about this before signing any binding contract and see if there are other options.
