Choosing the Right Resort
Vacation resorts are a wonderful option for those looking to relax, be pampered and partake of activities they are certain to enjoy. Whether your favorite recreation is skiing, hiking, golf or gambling in a casino, there are features that will heighten your enjoyment of your resort experience. Here are a few tips that will help you achieve your ultimate vacation:

Tip #1: Make sure the resort features are appropriate.
Holiday resorts are often geared toward specific client needs. If you are traveling alone, you want a resort that caters to singles. If you are bringing the children, make sure that the resort features supervised activities for kids.

Tip #2: Be certain that all inclusive packages are right for you before you buy.
Make sure what is included and what is extra is clearly defined. Many all inclusive resorts are somewhat misleading. Activities within the confines of the resort property are typically included, but excursions outside the premises are not. Also, if you mean to do a lot of sightseeing and sampling of the local cuisine, you might want to skip the packages that include meals; you don't want to pay for something you know you won't use.

Tip #3: Book your vacation during off-seasons.
Not only will you get better deals, you'll avoid the sometimes unruly crowds that congregate during New Year's and Spring Break.

Tip #4: Do your research.
You will want to check the resort's claims independently of the brochures and resort websites. This includes reading online reviews and checking customer complaints and disputes on consumer affairs websites.

People on vacation want to have time to relax, but all too often our vacation holidays are filled with stresses of their own. Many people have to rent a car, then find a hotel room and then find out how to get to local attractions. A wise traveler can of course bypass many of these stresses and opt to stay at a resort. Many resorts cater to travelers and they want them to have an ideal experience so that they return year after year. Not all resorts are the same, and before you book a room with one you should ask yourself the following questions.

  • Where do you want to go?
Resorts are in all different locales. There are beach resorts, ski resorts, even golf resorts. Before searching for resorts, first search for a destination that appeals to you and your traveling partner or family. Then find a resort offering the amenities you want, such as a spa or a casino.

  • What do the different star levels mean?
Hotels are often rated based on stars. Therefore, a hotel with 4 stars will offer more luxury than a hotel with only 2. However, you can expect to pay more for the higher rated hotel.

  • I'm on a budget. How can I save money?
Look for package deals or all-inclusive deals. All-inclusive deals include meals and drinks along with the hotel room in their price. Package deals can include trips to the spa or a round of golf. Also, you may want to consider traveling during the off season. The beaches are still nice in the spring and fall, and you can still ski in the early or late snows.
