Melissa,
I understand what you are saying completely! I think as long as your dogs are healthy and happy than noone has a right to say anything to you about the food you feed... Also, I don't see why anyone would even care if you were a hoarder or collector (not saying you are) because you clearly love your dogs and thats all that matters... I think you are doing a good thing and keep it up. I hope everything keeps going well for you!!!!!!

Another thing... I thought this message board was here to help people with questions... Not to critisize! Make suggestions, not accusations.
I know I did bitch at that one guy but hell he deserved it!! I mean really... I can understand feeding less expensive food but gun powder and hot sauce??!? that was just rediculous!

Melissa
I never got defensive anywhere in my post? I have no reason to.

Like you I posted the info already, in my ealier post.

"I know a male that was fed pedigree or dog chow (neither are great) and did ok, then the owner switched to Ol Roy and the dog went down hill, once I saw what feed they were using I told them thats why. But still they'd rather not listen and take the dog to the vet and spent a lot of money to find out nothing is really wrong and its paraite free. To in the end listen to me and get a little better dog food, but I guess they thought since the dog put on weight and looked better they could sritch back to the cheapest kind (Ol Roy). So the dog got severe, bones bones bones and skin was all, his head shrunk so much and his collar was huge, no muscle just bones. Then came the "I ton' know whats wrong, he looks so sick, I have to take him to the vet, all this" Plain crap, I said get him back on a better dog food. Its as simple as that, thats why I don't understand their dog looks like death and once could barely move from out of his house and all they have to do is feed a better choice and should know this and not be freaking out. Waste more money on the vet to here nothing is wrong or simple feed better which made him well lastime? The dog was then taken by a family member, no vet care or treatments of any kind, just fed a decent quality dog food and now looks GREAT. Better then he has ever looked. Person who had him before said

Ya'll gotta hear this!! Last night I was over at my brother-in-laws and he has a german shepherd thats about 12 years old. Well we were all just hanging out, it was my husband, me and my 2 brother in laws, and the dog flipped the fuck out!! He grabbed ahold of my husband's older brother's arm then turned around and almost ripped my husbands younger brother's (the owner of the dog) thumb off. Then my husband tried to get the dog off his brother and he bit him on the hand also... It took all 3 of them to hold the dog down. Noone did anything to trigger it... We were all just sitting there bullshitting and not even looking at the dog. We have him locked in a shed right now because we don't know what to do with him. I think we will take him tomorrow to be put down if he lets one of us get close enough. I've had this dog around my kids and everything though... It kind of freaks me out!! He was a complete family dog and has been for 12 years. And people say you have to watch for pitbulls..... My dogs would never do that!! I have complete trust in them.. I think any dog can potentially snap or bite someone.... This dog was a german shepherd... Known as the most loyal dog and I have heard of shepherds doing it befor... But yet they are still known as a great dog and pitbulls still have the bad name. Kinda doesn't make sense does it. OK i'm done.. I just wanted everyone to know what happened cause it freaked me out.

Is there a good reason to clip the dog's ears? Is it simply for looks or are there health reasons. Thank you for taking time to answer this. Our little pup is 8 weeks old and we have had her for only 1 day and she is sooo sweet.

Dennis, there is no HEALTH reason to clip the dog's ears if she is solely a pet!

I have a Rottweiler and the only reason the tails were docked was to prevent injury while the dog was working.

But if the dog is not working, there is no reason to alter her. :o) Keep the ears, it makes them so cute!

Obedience training is the best way to bond with your dog and tons of socialization so she won't fear strangers....Then, get with a REPUTABLE protection club like PSA (Protection Sports Association) if you are serious about having a protection dog. (It's a huge time commitment and you MUST be ultra responsible)
Most folks find that the bond and trust built by positive, motivational training is enough to help the dog understand when there is something he or she needs to bark to let you know there is something up.
Remember, a dog that is kept outside "to guard the house" is easy prey to dog theives and will be most effective IN the house.
Stats and ex-burglars themselves have shown that simply a barking dog in a house will deter 99% of burglars. Another interesting fact: Police dogs are only "sent" on a tiny number of perps. Most give up upon hearing the first bark!

Dennis,
Ear cropping is PAINFUL for the dog, expensive for you, and COMPLETELY unnecessary. I just got a Mini Schnauzer for my parents. She is KEEPING her ears! :)
