| Pits become aggressive or territorial around the age of one. That is ususally the age that you can start to tell if a dog is going to be aggresive toward people or not. I breed pure blue, and red nose pits. My dogs are all friendly at first but at the age of one they begin to become aware of there surrondings, or stature and will show what type of temperment they will have. Any dog that I have that showed aggressive traits I have broken of that through spending time with my dog, social activity both myself as well as strangers that the dog does not know. Constantly introducing him to new people has always kept my dogs friendly toward strangers if when they didn't start off that way. You do run the risk of your dog being stolen that way because then they will go with who ever comes there way. I breed for good temperment so I have had to take that risk. I have only had two dogs that were aggressive out of 20. They are still with me to this day. |
