| To help alleviate confusion about what a Shichon is and is not, email me and I'll explain further. For now, though, let me simply say that the cross between a Shih-tzu and Bichon is called a Zuchon. A Shichon is a breed still in deveopment that includes 8 different breeds of dog. They are being developed specifically for the purpose of becoming therapy or service dogs for children and adults with autism and other disorders. We currently have a litter (July 12, 05) that are 4 weeks tomorrow. We still have 2 males left that have not been spoken for. I'd love to be in contact with any Zuchon breeders, though. | BUYERS make sure you ask what you are getting when you look for a Shichon. There are those mixing the Shih-tzu and Bichon Frise calling them Shichons. They are VERY cute and I'm sure wonderful little puppies/dogs. There IS a confusion, though, in the names -- I've heard of them called a Shibi on the east coast but the name according to the American Canine Hybrid Club (est.1969 -- www.achclub.com) and dogbreedinfo.com is Zuchon. The name Shichon is a trademarked name and is only legally supposed to be used by those associated with the Shichon Club of America -- a breed still in development. So, if you're looking for a Shih-tzu/Bichon cross, make sure you ask if that's what you're getting --- or if you're looking for a Shichon, make sure you ask who the breeder is associated with and what breeds are being put together to develop this dog.
