Holistic Therapy: A branch of medicine that takes into account the body as a whole functioning unit.

Homeopathy: A form of alternative medicine where treatment of disease is given by small doses of natural substances that in a healthy person would show symptoms of disease.

Acupuncture: A form of disease or pain treatment whereby fine needles are placed at strategic points on the skin. This practice originated in ancient China, and according to traditional Chinese medicine, can correct imbalances in the flow of "qi" through meridians, or channels.

Bloodletting: The practice of withdrawing blood from a patient to cure illness or disease. This ancient medicine practice was thought to restore balance for good health. This was the single most common medical practice up to the late 19th century.
