The title of "health services" does not cover one specific industry, but rather many, all of which aim at assisting humans. Therefore, there are several careers available with different businesses within this realm.

One career available is working for the health department. The public health department is not only in charge of making sure that restaurants and food establishments are up to code, but their health inspectors are also in charge of hospitals, malls and medical diagnostic centers. To become a public health inspector, you need at least a bachelor's degree. There are also programs that you can enroll in for specific training.

Another career available is one in the medical profession. This can include nursing, physicians, and the administrative staff working within the office. Both nurses and doctors need advanced degrees, often beyond a bachelor's, for the highest practice in the field. For instance, a nurse working in the ER might need a master's in nursing in order to practice the best care for his/her patients. Nursing assistance that provides home care, on the other hand, often only need to participate in an AA program. Doctors need several years of advanced education, as well as participating in a residency, before they are allowed to own a private practice, or even write prescriptions. Aids working in the office often need specific training for the medical systems, but they do not require an advanced degree.

Finally, you can choose a career in the health insurance industry. Insurance programs are another vital part of the health care business. They provide men, women and children with funding for proper health care. Different agencies offer many coverage plans, from groups, family plans, and individual packages.
