Important Terms to Know About Contractors Equipment and Supply
Contractors, licensed construction professionals who build structures such as homes and high rises, are skilled in remodels, new construction and additions. From painting and siding to foundations and roadways, contractors need the right equipment and supplies to operate their business. These supplies can be small, such as nails and hammers, or quite large such as earth moving machines and hydraulic machinery. You can’t operate an efficient construction site without the use of heavy duty equipment, haulers, loaders, backhoes and bulldozers. Check out these important terms about contractors’ equipment and supplies:

Hydraulic Machinery: Machines and tools using liquid fluid power to perform work. Hydraulic fluid is essentially sent through the machine to the motor and cylinders, controlled by valves and distributed through hoses.

Backhoe: A type of excavating equipment that features a bucket for digging attached to an articulated arm. The bucket is usually located at the back of a front loader or tractor, with the arm section being called a boom and the bucket portion called the dipper.

Articulated Hauler: A type of dump truck that can haul loads across terrain that is bumpy and rough. This vehicle, featuring all-wheel drive, has two units: the tractor and rear section, which holds the dump body. Steering is made possible through pivoting the front by hydraulic rams.

Asphalt Finisher: Also known as a paver, this engineering vehicle is used to spread asphalt on roadways, fed by a dump truck. A roller is also used to press down the hot asphalt and make a smooth surface.

"I recently asked White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, MI, for help in moving my partner's ashes from our plot there so that they can be closer to me (I live in another state). White Chapel's Board of Directors refuses to let me take my partner's ashes, saying that I need written consent from her next-of-kin. It is their "policy". Their Board of Directors knows that my partner gave me legal cus ..."

There are many professionals that work with construction equipment and contractor supplies for a living. If you decide to work for a company that sells these tools, machines, generator pumps, safety gear, and concrete supplies, then you may have the option to work in most parts of the United States. This is because there are dealers who both rent and sell contractor equipment all across America. These items can range from demolition machinery and welding tools to trench digging machines and concrete mixer buckets.

In order to deal in contractor tools and construction equipment, it is imperative to know what you are working with. Contractors should receive proper training regarding tool manufacturers, equipment that excavates dirt, industrial machinery, and various hose sizes. While one client may need a machine that drills holes in wood, another may require a saw that cuts through steel. If you work for a supply company, it is up to you to help customers find the right equipment and building materials . This may depend on whether the customers are dealing with residential home building, commercial construction, or industrial sites. Some jobs may call for demolition machinery and other major building equipment. So it is important for you to know the differences between various tools, concrete mixes, saws, and drills for purchase.

When you supply contractor equipment and construction supplies to people, it is likely you will encounter plenty of builders and carpenters. You are also likely to work with industrial professionals, roofers, and superintendents that oversee major construction jobs.
