    Some folks enjoy working with their hands outside doing harder contractor work. If you are one of these people, you may wish to consider working in the asphalt and concrete paving industry.

    Working with asphalt requires a decent amount of training since the material is hot and safety precautions need to be taken.     If you decide you'd rather start your own blacktop contractor business, you'll have to be familiar with business practices, tax laws, and managing employees. Each state has different laws about licensing for concrete and asphalt contractors, so you'll have to get the proper license for where you intend on operating. Since you'll be doing the ordering of the materials, you'll need to know the right stones to purchase, what cement mixture works best, and the like. Since asphalt is used in the masonry field for roofing shingles, you must be sure that you are purchasing the correct product.
