Used Appliances

Looking for a discount on home appliances? Consider buying used appliances, such as fridges and freezers, from a store or dealer near you. Buying used offers a low-cost incentive over buying brand new. Many times, people donate or sell their used appliances back to the store in which they got them. Technicians refurbish the appliances from microwave ovens to stoves, then the store sells them at a discounted price. Be aware of the right questions to ask, though, before purchasing used gas or electric appliances.

  • What types of appliances do you specialize in?
Some stores may offer just major household kitchen and bathroom appliances, such as washers and dryers, fridges, and freezers. Others sell a blend of small and large devices, from food processors to ranges, cooktops and refrigerator.

  • How much will I save by buying used?
This can vary from store to store, but generally you will see appliances reduced up to half off of their original price, and even lower if the appliance, such as a dryer, has really seen some use. Discounted appliances are usually located at the back of the store, and should have clearly-marked tags specifying price.

  • Do you provide delivery?
Many stores will provide delivery and installation of your appliance, but it will usually cost you extra. If you live within a certain demographic area close to the store, they may waive the fee. Just ask. Set up a delivery time that is mutually agreeable and you’ll have your “new” old washing machine, dishwasher, fridge or freezer in no time.

Used appliance outlets are often charities that accept donations and sell the second hand ovens, ranges, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, microwave ovens, water purification systems, air conditioners, washing machines, and clothes dryers. Regardless of whether you want to buy used electric stoves or gas stoves, freezers, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, and furniture for your house or you want to give your donation to a charity, you will want to find a company that offers the best services. When you contact the company, ask them if they have reconditioned appliances. If they have been reconditioned properly, then you should be able to get appliances that, while used, will still function well for several years. Ask the companies how long they have been in business. Those with several years of experience should be able to supply you with the appliances that you need and give you the information you need about righting off your donations on your taxes. Ask them for their location and contact information so that you can contact them if you have any questions. If you are donating a heavy appliance like an electric stoves, gas stoves, or dishwashers, then ask them if they provide pickup services at your own home so that you do not have to worry about finding a way to move the appliances to their outlet. Be sure that you pay close attention to the level of courtesy that the companies' reps use when they are answering your questions. It is important that you get accurate information, and their level of courtesy can help you determine how much they value their customers.
