Tips for Eating at Italian Restaurants
The following tips can help you choose which Italian restaurant to eat at in your local neighborhood:

Tip #1: Authentic Restaurants Provide a Real Taste of Italy
Italy is known for its fine pasta dishes like spaghetti, lasagna, and ravioli. If you are looking for truly authentic Italian food, try a local restaurant that is owned by an actual Italian family. Many of these restaurants have special recipes that have been passed down for generations and are true to their Italian roots.

Tip #2: There's More Choices of Italian Cusinse Than Just Pasta
The main ingredient in Italian dishes is olive oil and tomatoes. These ingredients can be found in many more dishes than just pasta. An excellent alternative is the antipasto salad, made with olive oil, olives, and ham over a bed of vegetables. Risotto is a rice-based dish often made with Parmesan cheese, onion, and butter. This dish, along with many others, can also incorporate seafood. Italian cuisine, especially along the coastal areas, uses different kinds of shellfish and saltwater fish to give additional flavor to the food.

Tip #3: Tempt Your Senses and Try Some Italian Wine Paired With Your Food
Besides being known for it's food, Italy may be best known for its extensive wine selection. The art of growing fine wine was perfected in Italy long ago and Italians believe that a good wine compliments any meal. Italy's Biancos, whites, and Rossos, reds, are labeled according to the area where they were grown, instead of by the grape. This can be somewhat confusing for American wine drinkers, but many Italian restaurants do organize their wine menus according to the type of grape used in the wine. Several common varieties include Pinot Grigio, Nebbiolo, and Sangiovese.

Romano's Macaroni Grill
At our local Boston area Italian restaurant we serve only the freshest ingredients prepared with traditional recipes. Try everything from spaghetti to fresh caprese salad at our Italian restaurants.

"We had an incredible experience at Alia. My chicken parm was to die for any husband's salmon was like nothing I've ever tasted before. I usually don't write reviews but 1) I loved everything, 2) the owner is so sweet and we want him to do well and 3) there are way too many mediocre Italian restaurants out there so when something amazing like this comes along, I want to make sure everyone knows! ..."

Are you passionate about authentic Italian cuisine? Then consider combining that enthusiasm with the need for steady employment and obtain a job in an Italian restaurant. Bistros, caf├ęs and gourmet eateries are all in need of dedicated employees. There are multiple positions available in both the dining room and in the kitchen. Each has their own requirements, but many locations will allow you to work towards promotions.

If you have no previous experience in the food business, there are some positions that will allow you to be trained on the job. A host is responsible for greeting diners upon arrival, they also handle the seating chart and reservations. If you have good customer service skills, then consider joining the wait staff. Servers should have extensive knowledge of the menu and wine lists. Drivers are also needed at some restaurants that offer delivery services, such as pizza places. To be successful at this position, you will need to have a knowledge of authentic Italian cuisine and know your way around town in order to satisfy the delivery orders of customers.

If your heart truly belongs in the kitchen with food, some chefs are willing to hire assistants with no formal training. You should be able to follow a recipe and be familiar with common ingredients such as garlic and oregano. With the help of the chef, you will be able to master the key dishes of the menu. These would probably include pizza crust, lasagna, ravioli and marinara sauce. You will also learn the different types of pasta like spaghetti and fettuccine. After some training, you will be able to develop winning recipes of your own. By making this career change, you will be able to earn a living while doing something you love.
